John’s experience includes over 20 years of legal study and practice in criminal law. John graduated from Saint Louis University in 1995 with a double major in Philosophy and Psychology, and went on to earn his Juris Doctor in 1998 from Hamline University School of Law with a concentration in Government and Regulatory Affairs.
For 13 years, John has served as State Representative for District 66B in the Minnesota House of Representatives, throughout which he has served on the Public Safety, Judiciary, and Civil Law committees where he has had a hand in crafting and passing many of the major criminal and civil law changes in Minnesota over the past 10 years. For 8 years he has served as an infantry officer in 2-135 infantry, Minnesota National Guard, where he maintains the rank of Captain and has been a rear detachment rifle company commander, rifle company platoon leader, a weapons company platoon leader, and weapons company executive officer.
John has 15 years of experience as a criminal prosecutor, having tried cases before juries in cases involving domestic assaults, DWI, neighborhood drug activity and theft. John has a successful record at the MN Court of Appeals, and closely monitors changing developments in criminal caselaw.
