Biography

John’s experience includes over 20 years of practice in criminal law. John graduated from Saint Louis University in 1995 with a double major in Philosophy and Psychology, and went on to earn his Juris Doctor in 1998 from Hamline University School of Law with a concentration in Government and Regulatory Affairs. For 18 years, John served as state legislator in the Minnesota House of Representatives, where he chaired the House Judiciary Committee and had a hand in crafting and passing many of the major criminal and civil law changes in Minnesota. He served as an infantry officer in 2-135 infantry, Minnesota National Guard, where he left with the rank of Captain and saw service as a rear detachment rifle company commander, rifle company platoon leader, a weapons company platoon leader, and weapons company executive officer. John has 15 years of experience as a criminal prosecutor, and has tried cases including charges for murder, felony assault, domestic assaults, Harassment Restraining Orders, Orders for Protection, DWI, neighborhood drug activity and theft, among many others. John has a successful record at the MN Court of Appeals, and closely monitors changing developments in criminal caselaw.
